The Accessorized Beginner: The Tie Top & Capris
In this 5-week beginner's class learn how to sew and complete the perfect casual 1950's-styled outfit!
Stitch a button-down shirt with a wing collar, short kimono sleeves and a tie waist. Make capri-length high-waisted pants with tapered legs and a back zipper that can be made out of either denim or a twill or a stretch woven.
Our Accessorized Beginner series of classes is our most comprehensive series aimed at teaching the beginning seamstress the fundamentals of sewing while creating a complete vintage-styled outfit.
You will begin by learning basic stitches through making a kitschy, retro-themed tote bag you can use to carry your project to and from class!
Following this we will move onto the construction of the garments where you will learn how to: x Correctly take measurements x Successfully follow a commercial pattern x Layout and cut fabric x Achieve a perfect fit through pattern adjustments x Install a zipper x Make buttonholes and covvered buttons x Stitch a collar x Install pant pockets x Learn basic hand-sewing skills and stitches x Professionally press and finish seams
Perfect for those who want to learn how to sew as well as those who are familiar with a machine and want to refine their technique.
Machine and tools are provided. As always, all materials are supplied and included in the class cost!
