HSF: King Lear
Considered one of Shakespeare's Four Great Tragedies. The story of the titular king as he struggles against the ravages of age, of his three daughters who struggle to stand up to his increasingly erratic behavior, and of a scheming villain who uses this time of uncertainty in the kingdom to manipulate the people around him in order to usurp the crown for himself. Filled with moments both funny and moving, this production focuses on the danger of prizing flattery over honesty, how easily people fall for cleverly packaged lies,the pain of loss and the transformative power of forgiveness.
