THE HI-TONE RAMBLERS & PAGES OF PAUL AT SANDYWOODS
SATURDAY, MARCH 23, 2013 - THE HI-TONE RAMBLERS with PAGES OF PAUL
8 pm, doors open 7:30 pm BYOB & food allowed $10 advance and at the door
The Hi-Tone Ramblers' music, both traditional and original, is inspired by American roots music, both instrumental and vocal. They offer up a melting pot of Anglo and African-rooted songs, rhythms, blues, and old-time fiddle and banjo tunes - driving and stately, bouncy, quirky, and eerily beautiful.
Tim Rowell (banjo, vocals); Cathy Mason (fiddle); Bethany Weiman (cello, vocals); Paul Strother (bass); and Tim Fitzpatrick (guitar, vocals)
Opening for the Hi-Tone Ramblers will be Pages of Paul, playing crisp original pop songs with overtones of country and rock. The band's members are all lifelong seasoned musicians with a combined experience that spans more than 100 years and includes world-wide tours and Grammy nominations. Their debut CD "This Time" is a collection of 12 originals penned by guitarist Paul Curcuruto.
As pedal steel and slide guitarist Mark Tomeo (a veteran of the 80's rock scene via his former band "Rubber Rodeo") states, "There's an abundance of combined experience in Pages of Paul which yields an unspoken shared direction and goal for all of us. If it was 1970, I'd say we were a country rock band. At the same time, we have an incredibly fresh take on everything and it shows in all of our work."
Karen Nogle (vocals), Rick Buck (bass), Mark Tomeo (pedal steel guitar), and Paul Curcuruto (guitar)
