Shakespeare in the Garden A Midsummer Night's Dream
Summer 2018 marks the Santa Fe Botanical Gardens second season of Shakespeare in the Garden. Building upon last years great success in bringing Shakespeare to the vibrant outdoor venue of the Botanical Garden's amphitheater, we are excited to introduce next seasons production featuring Director Rachel Kelly, in partnership with Shakespeare in Santa Fe and the Shakespeare Guild.
Shakespeare in the Garden in 2018 will feature a stellar cast in A Midsummer Nights Dream. The play portrays the adventures of four young lovers and a group of amateur actors, their interactions with woodland fairies and a duke and duchess. Taking place in a mythical Athens and in an enchanted forest, there is a handsome fairy king, a misguided parent, star-crossed lovers, a weaver who's transformed into a half-donkey, wood sprites and elves. This work is one of the most popular of Shakespeare's works, and performed widely around the world.
The season will also bring the return of evenings of picnicking in the Goede Family Orchard Garden prior to each evenings performance, and the Unwind with the Cast receptions on selected nights.
The 2018 season will kick off on August 17th with an opening night champagne reception prior to the performance. A Midsummer Night's Dream will run from August 17 through September 2, 2018, with the theater dark on Mondays.
Performances will take place in the Botanical Garden's amphitheater. To see a bird's eye view of the theater click here.
