Double Decker Art Donation
Each year the Double Decker Festival asks a Mississippi artist to create an original work of art to promote the festival. Thomas Grosskopf, past award winner of the Double Decker Juried Show, was selected this year based on commitment to arts in Mississippi. Mr. Grosskopf is a graduate of the University of Mississippi, a member of the Bozart Art Alliance, and has served on committees for the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.
He created an original painting inspired by art posters of the 1920's. Each year as an exhibitor at the Double Decker Festival Mr. Grosskopf has collected donations for a local charity. Donors could enter their name in a drawing for an original work of art. This year funds collected will be donated to the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council for the continued renovation of the Powerhouse.
Mr. Grosskopf has directed the donations to be used to improve the gallery space for enhancements to the lighting and hanging system for exhibits. Donors who contribute to this effort between now and the close of the Double Decker Festival will have their names including in the drawing for the original work of art used to create the poster for the 2013 Double Decker Festival.
Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law as the contribution is to the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council Renovation Fund.
