Project YouthView 2013
Alternatives in Action's Project YouthView 2013 is presented by Comcast and sponsored by HBO at Venue Sponsor Alameda Theatre & Cineplex. Now in its ninth year, Project YouthView showcases Bay Area youth-created film shorts that highlight the power of young people to make a difference in their lives and in their communities, paired with a short feature documentary which also highlights the power of youth through film. The event opens up important dialogue between youth and adults about the issues young people face and inspires youth to tell their stories and pursue a career in arts/media.
Project YouthView 2013 is set for Thursday, May 9, 2013 starting at 6:30pm at the historic Alameda Theatre and Cineplex (VIP Reception at 5:30pm). During the first half of the program, we will screen 9 youth film shorts selected from a slate of over 75 film submissions from Bay Area youth. An Audience and Judges' Choice Award (chosen by industry notables such as Terence Winter of HBO Boardwalk Empire, Russell Simmons of Def Jam, and Pauley Perrette of NCIS) will be announced that evening. During the second half of the program, we will screen the 2013 Oscar Winning Documentary Short, Inocente, followed by an audience Q&A with Inocente!
