Without Fear or Favor: A Conversation with Arthur O. Sulzberger, Jr. - SOLD OUT
The Vineyard Gazette presents Arthur O. Sulzberger Jr., former publisher and now Chairman of the Board of the New York Times, in conversation with journalist Michele Norris.
Mr. Sulzberger became publisher of The New York Times in 1992 and served in that role in until 2017, when he turned the reins over to his son. He led the newspaper through arguably the most tumultuous period in its history, transforming the Gray Lady into an international digital-first news organization as the business of media underwent fundamental changes. During his tenure, The Times won 60 Pulitzer Prizes.
In a note to Times staff following the election of President Donald Trump, Mr. Sulzberger invoked the words of his great grandfather, Adolph Ochs, who called on his staff to report the news without fear or favor.
Ms. Norris is a radio journalist and former host of the NPR show All Things Considered. Her NPR series on race relations, The Race Card Project, won a Peabody Award in 2014.
The event is free to subscribers of the Vineyard Gazette and a plus one. Non-subscribers pay $30 and students with i.d. pay $15.
