Black Youth Project 100 DC Presents: Tangerine
ABOUT BYP100 DC:

BYP100 DC is a collective of a Black activists who organize, protest, and create to fight for Black liberation in the DC area. The chapter started in 2013 after the Trayvon Martin verdict galvanized young Black activists to start BYP100 to strive for justice. Since then, weve been turning up for Black people by engaging in political education, organizing direct actions and campaigns, working with coalitions, participating in lobby days, and doing cultural productions like mixtapes and zines. We focus on transformative change and work through a Black queer feminist lens, meaning that we understand that oppression is intersectional and layered, so we focused our efforts on empowering the most marginalized members of our community. If youre interested in getting involved, contact BYP100 DC at dc.chapter@byp100.org!

ABOUT THE FILM:

It's Christmas Eve in Tinseltown and Sin-Dee (newcomer Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) is back on the block. Upon hearing that her pimp boyfriend (James Ransone, STARLET, Generation Kill) hasn't been faithful during the 28 days she was locked up, the sex worker and her best friend, Alexandra (newcomer Mya Taylor), embark on a mission to get to the bottom of the scandalous rumor. Their rip-roaring odyssey leads them through various subcultures of Los Angeles.

"IT JUMPS OFF THE SCREEN AND WOWS YOU LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS. A groundbreaking film that leaves you in stitches while quietly breaking your heart. A VISUALLY INNOVATIVE KNOCKOUT THAT GRABS YOU FROM THE FIRST FRAME."

- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

". THIS MOVIE! THIS MOVIE IS EVERYTHING. An ingenious blast of fresh air so florid and electric that it feels like a Pedro Almodóvar remake of Crank."

- David Ehrlich, Time Out NY

"UPROARIOUS. A MUST-SEE. EXPLODES WITH VITALITY."

- Stephen Holden, NY Times

"RAUCOUS AND BAWDY. By the end, Baker and his actors have led us to a place beyond comedy  you may still be laughing, but your breath catches a little on the way out."

- Stephanie Zacharek, Village Voice

"ONE OF THE MOST EXCITING FILMS OF THE YEAR. Tangerine may not be the summer comedy we asked for, but it just might be the summer comedy we need."

- Peter Macia, Vogue

"A BEAUTIFULLY FILMED, SWOONINGLY SCORED, GRACEFULLY PERFORMED WONDER OF A MOVIE. An intimate, funny, and surprisingly poignant portrait in miniature of a few fascinating American lives."

- Richard Lawson, Vanity Fair

"ENCHANTING. Its a pleasure to tag along for the day."

- Rebecca Keegan, LA Times

"RIOTOUS, DARING, AND CRACKLING WITH VITALITY."

- Alison Willmore, Buzzfeed
