ArchCity Defenders Presents the Second Annual Excellence in Poverty Journalism Awards
Join ArchCity Defenders as we present our second annual "Excellence in Poverty Journalism Awards" to honor reporters committed to writing in-depth stories about race, class, and poverty in St. Louis. Among the awardees, ArchCity will be honoring Dr. Donald Suggs, Publisher and Executive Editor of the St. Louis American, with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Poverty Journalism.

Leading up to the Awards, ArchCity Defenders invites the community to nominate regional journalists who have published a digital/print or audio/visual piece between April 1, 2017 and May 1, 2018. Winners and honorable mentions will be selected by a three person panel and will be publicly announced at the event.

Through the Awards and interactive visuals at the event, ArchCity invites the community to engage and inspire more stories to be written about the systemic issues impacting families in St. Louis.

Nominees, members of the media, and the public are invited to attend this awards ceremony and engage in journalism that affects the community.

Doors open at 6:30pm, program starts at 7:30pm.  Special thanks to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri for co-hosting this event.

Complimentary appetizers will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.
