The Super Happy Funtime Burlesque 50th Anniversary Show!
SHFB Is an 18-member touring monstrosity. A live band, a burlesque troupe, a circus act, that is all together too contemporary, too modern, too bawdy, and too controversial to be defined just as "burlesque". So, calling itself "burlesque" for lack of a better term, SHFB is heading out for their 6th national tour this spring with its all new musical, 'The SHFB 50th Anniversary Show', a satirical tale. Mr. Happypants is going to try to get his show back together one last time after nearly a half century of retirement. He embarks on a reunion (of sorts) that twists and turns into a 'Being John Malkovich-esque' show-within-a-show as the reunited cast tell the autobiographical tale of what it is actually like to tour the country as part of an 18 member group of sex gals living in a 40-foot converted school bus.
Designed to find your line and cross it! A strange mix of GWAR and Benny Goodman with touches of SNL and the Price is Right, SHFB sprays you with glitter and love while playfully degrading taboo subjects like religion, politics, and sex. A crack team of 8 musicians playing everything from Klezmer to heavy metal backs up a bevy of beautiful broads who act out such stories as the sad mermaid who wanted a vagina, a female Jesus impersonator who puts a little too much Manson in her act, and our 350lb bus driver who strips down to a thong while singing power metal and hands out lapdances to eager audience members. All of this is held together by the masterful direction of their emcee, Mr. Happypants, who keeps the evening at a high energy and high pace with his astute observations and surreal brand of off color humor.
