TakeTiNa Workshop
When: Sunday, March 24 Time: 2:00 - 5:00 PM Where: 2503 Blanding Ave, Alameda, CA 94501 Cost: $35 in advance, $40 at the door
As our outer world becomes faster and more complex, do you find yourself becoming more stressed? Do you yearn for the chance to slow down, and focus from a silent place within yourself to find your inner ground? Our daily to-do lists, current events, family obligations and the myriad responsibilities we "perceive" ourselves to have makes us easily lost in confusion and tempted to control the uncontrollable.
However, when we find our inner ground, we can relax and focus in any situation. An ancient mode of intelligence is reawakened within us, something we probably haven't experienced in a very long time. Participants often say the feeling is like "coming home." To find our inner ground, we have to go beyond our usual ways of approaching life: habits of control, self-consciousness, rule making, and rule breaking. When we let go of these habits, we connect to something greater than ourselves, and begin to sense the abundant qualities of life. For those of you who have experienced TaKeTiNa, you know that it's not really about rhythm: it's about you. TaKeTiNa is a powerful process that can rapidly quiet the chatter in your head and bring you into connection with your inner core. Through vocalization, clapping and stepping you are guided into three separate rhythmic layers which directly affects your nervous system and brings a more clear and direct experience of the world. TaKeTiNa is a powerful tool for awakening one's ability to sense our inner ground.
Elaine Fong will be leading a half-day Taketina workshop, and Susan Sullivan will be playing the surdo drum.
