Association #1 : Ned Ludd + William Deresiewicz
March 17th, 2013 7pm to 11pm 21+ limited batch of $75 tickets.
'Association' is a new monthly dinner series designed by Ned Ludd, UNION/PINE and Merit Badge aimed at pairing great food with tasty libations, and inspired conversation. The inaugural evening of March 17th will feature food by Jason French of Ned Ludd paired with custom cocktails by Merit Badge, and a guest speaker William Deresiewicz, who will speak briefly on his New York Times piece focused on food replacing art as high culture.
The evening will begin at 7pm with welcome cocktails, stationary appetizers, and hellos, and guests will be asked to sit for dinner around 7:45pm. A brief introduction to the meal will be spoken by Mr. French, while guests are served their 'one plate wonder'. A second complimentary beverage will be served while Bill addresses the crowd for approximately 20 minutes, and dinner should wrap up around 9pm. Appetizer stations will have been replaced with dessert offerings, and guests will be given a dessert pairing or beverage of choice while they gather to discuss the evening's message and various friendly banter.
The bar will be open throughout the night, so those wishing to procure a drink in addition to the three gratis will be welcome to swap or purchase another option. Guests will be encouraged to enjoy the company and the space until 11pm or so, when we are predicting the departure trickle will be complete.
Future 'Association' dinners will feature Biwa, Crown Paella, Wildwood, and many other established Portland eateries, and decor will be provided by Bird Dog Creative and Commonwealth Vintage Rentals, among others. We are looking forward to hosting a talk for May by Jelly Helm, and many other great minds from our community at W + K, Nike, Instrument, Creative Mornings, City of Portland, and countless others in the months to follow.
