"Lakewood Founders" Walking Tour
Summer evenings are a wonderful time to stroll through Lakewoods grounds. Take in the beautiful gardens and long vistas while you learn a bit of fun, local history.
On the Lakewood Founders walking tour, well share the stories of the early Minneapolis leaders who together helped built not only the city itself but the citys grand cemeteryLakewood Cemetery. Featuring Minneapoliss first mayor Dorilus Morrison, Senator and businessman William D. Washburn, Park Board President Charles Loring and many more.
Tickets are $5, which goes toward Lakewoods Perpetual Care Fund to help keep maintain Lakewoods grounds for generations to come.
Details for that day - The tour will depart from in front of the Garden Mausoleum (the building immediately to your right upon entering the cemetery). Parking is available along the road near the building. - Be prepared to walk about a mile across both paved roads and uneven ground. Wear comfortable walking shoes. - Well plan to walk in light rain, however the tour will be cancelled in the event of serious weather (well notify you by email if that happens).
