In today's fast-paced world, a readers attention span seems to last no longer than a moment. But a moment, in the right hands, can sometimes tell a whole story. This class, led by Tyler Gillespie, will help you fully render those moments with an introduction to micro memoir and flash nonfiction (750 words or less). The class will consist of short readings, generative writing exercises, and tips on where to place short, self-contained pieces.
About the Instructor: Tyler Gillespie is an award-winning journalist who has written for Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Salon, GQ, The Nation, and Public Radio. Hes the author of Florida Man: Poems (Red Flag Poetry, 2018) and holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the University of New Orleans. Find him at TylerMTG.com.
Saturday, June 9 (1:00pm-3:00pm).
