Just in time to kick off county fair season in Minnesota, artist R.J. Kern will join us for the release of his second book of photographs, titled "The Unchosen Ones." Kern has been spending summer days at county fairs around Minnesota, documenting kids who compete with their animals through 4-H and FFA. Through his beautiful portraits, he contemplates winners and losers and comes away believing that even the ones who werent selected as Grand Champion are still pretty great. He will talk about this and his other projects involving domestic farm animals, show images, and sign copies of his books. Books will be available from the artist that day.
Seating is limited; please reserve your tickets in advance. $5; $3 for seniors or students; free for museum members.
Visiting the museum at this time does require the use of stairs.
