Matt Meighan, Joan Kennedy & John Anderson
Matt Meighan invited two songwriters he greatly admires to share the evening playing songs in the round.

Matt Meighan
"Though the way ahead never did get clear, I guess we made it after all" sings Portland songwriter Matt Meighan, and the experience of miles traveled is easy to hear in his music. Drawing on his years as an activist, journalist, parent and poet, Matt writes tradition-steeped, thought-provoking songs that are at turns personal, political, poignant and funny.

A song collector as well as writer, Matt mixes his originals with songs by fellow songwriters as well as older songs from the folk and blues traditions. His commitments to good writing and "truth-telling" are clear in the songs he chooses and the songs he writes, many of which are performed by other songwriters. He is currently recording 3rd CD, Love Today.

After earning an MFA in poetry at the Jack Keruoac school of Disembodied Poetics (Naropa University) in Boulder, Colorado, Matt turned his hand to songwriting. He currently lives to Portland, where he performs regularly, teaches a long-running "Songwriting as Truth Telling" class, and hosts Songwriter Roundup at Artichoke Music.

John Anderson
John Anderson has been playing music since taking accordion lessons when he was 8 years old.  He played the Corvallis coffee house circuit in college but since, his performance schedule was limited to the occasional wedding or funeral.  After leaving gainful employment in 2013 John has been performing regularly and developing his songwriting voice. His songs include a shipwreck story, a creation myth and Darwinian struggle of a wildflower, musing on the universal race with time and a reflection on lessons learned during a brief beardless interval, among others.  John accompanies his songs on guitar and also plays banjo and mandolin.  He has built all the instruments he plays.  Johns songs will sometimes make you laugh, maybe cry, hopefully crane an ear to listen closely and if he has his way, make you think.

Joan Kennedy
Joan divides her time between her home on the east coast and her summer playground in the Pacific Northwest. She has established a reputation in the songwriting community for her extraordinary songs that blend humor and compassion to shine a light on the daily struggles and triumphs of ordinary people. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=367816&content=music
