Cape May Salt Oyster Farm Tour, "Day at the Beach"
These oysters have made an historic oome back with thanks to Slow Food who placed their support by enrolling them in the Ark of Taste. The farm will open up to us for a complete tour of their operation at both the farm on the bay and the nursery on the Maurice River. * We meet at 10 am Cape May Distillery parking lot located at 371 Rt. 47 South (mile marker 7.2), Cape May Courthouse * 10:15 am - Proceed to the farm located on the beach at optimum low tide. We advise everyone to bring water gear since we will be wading into the water. * 11 am - Drive 45 minutes northwest to the town of Port Norris where we experience the floating nursery "Miss Betty" which is docked on the marina of the Bayshore Museum and home to the 3 masted schooner A J Meerwald. * 1 pm - Following the nursery tour we will have access to tour the Bayshore Discovery Museum which tells the history of the vast fishing community in SJ. * We will then enjoy a catered lunch, of course including oysters, and your choice of wine or non alcoholic beverages on the covered marina adjacent the nursery. This will be an amazing event on the Delaware Bay.
