Art Changes Everything:The Lens Through Which You View The World, An Afternoon with renowned photographer/artist Jeremy Barnard
In this salon series we offer the opportunity to meet each artist in an informal setting, viewing their images and hearing about their unique approaches to this ever-changing and evocative art form. Hear from each of them about the subtlety, nuance and unexpected magic of working in this medium.
In our 4th and final salon of the series, meet renowned artist/photographer, jeremy barnard. Jeremy will present three collections of photographs that trisect his 45 years in photography. The early work can best be described as "street photography", the collection from the middle years shows a passion for abandoned places, and the contemporary work is infrared photography. Viewed chronologically, the three bodies of work show the interesting psychological and philosophical path that jeremy has traveled in the past four and one half decades
Jeremy Barnard has been primarily a practitioner of black and white photography for the past forty plus years. He is self-taught, his craft having been molded and influenced by the photography and writings of some of the great masters. "My love affair with photography began when I developed my first roll of film and created my first print. I fell in love with the process, the magic." He is fascinated by the vast differences in the way we all see the world. Having a camera through which to speak allows him to share his vision. His passionate pursuit of technical excellence has kept Jeremy involved in every step of the photographic process. He retains control even into the presentation stage by doing his own spotting, mounting, matting, and framing.Although initially skeptical of the computer's place in photography, advancements in the digital world and their profound impact on quality have made Jeremy a true believer; and it has now been over ten years since he has shot a role of film. His life is dedicated to discovering the best tools to expand his visual vocabulary. To view some of Mr. Barnard's works go to www.jeremybarnard.com
