FACT/SF Summer Dance Festival
Curated by FACT/SF Artistic Director, Charles Slender-White, the inaugural year of the FACT/SF Summer Dance Festival brings together four stylistically-diverse contemporary dance works.
The 2018 FACT/SF Summer Dance Festival features works by Bay Area groups FACT/SF, Fog Beast, and Simpson/Stulberg Collaborations, alongside a work from visiting artist, Joy Davis (Boston).
Fog Beast and Joy Davis will both premiere new works, and FACT/SF and Simpson/Stulberg will reprise two of their critically-acclaimed duets, Platform and Still Life No. 7, respectively.
The FACT/SF Summer Dance Festival builds on the past success of the FACT/SF Summer Dance Lab and the ideals of FACT/SFs touring initiative, PORT (Peer Organized Regional Touring). The Dance Lab has occurred annually since 2013 and has included participants from the US, Canada, Mexico, and Bulgaria. PORT, launched in 2017 with the L.A. Contemporary Dance Company, supports the creation, performance, and touring of contemporary dance across the West Coast.
The 2018 SDF is supported by a grant from the Zellerbach Family Foundation.
