Film Screening and Q&A: Marvin Booker was Murdered
ArchCity Defenders, KDHX, and filmmaker Wade Gardner invite the community to attend a film screening of Marvin Booker was Murdered, an award winning documentary film.
The film covers the events surrounding the death of Marvin Booker, a homeless street preacher, who was beaten by five Denver jail guards. His brutal death in the jail was captured on video, and witnessed by more than twenty people. Yet, the jail guards were neither indicted, nor reprimanded. The story uncovers how the city of Denver chose to protect the Thin Blue Line instead of Marvin Bookers constitutional rights.
The Q&A will be facilitated by ArchCity's Executive Director Blake Strode, Filmmaker Wade Gardner, Rev Dr. Spencer Booker, and Gail Booker, and will build a bridge between the film and the challenges and opportunities facing us in St. Louis.
Attendees will have opportunities to connect with local advocacy and activism in St. Louis.
