SHERRY SMITH - MAINTAINING STRENGTH AND PRESENCE WITH AN AGING VOICE
As we age, we begin to experience the Invisible Years. This phenomenon is largely felt among women. The Catch-22 of this is, because we feel like were disappearing, we tend to become quieter vocally, exacerbating the idea of disappearing. The vocal apparatus is like any other muscle group, you need to exercise it regularly to maintain its strength. You are your voice! Come and discover ways to be seen and heard!
Sherry has worked across Canada as an actor, director, writer and producer for over 30 years. Recently, she received her MFA in Theatre Voice Pedagogy from the University of Alberta. She has taught Oral Communication at U of A, coached law students in the Art of Oral Advocacy, was dialect coach for the Netflix series, The Mist, and just completed teaching Intro to Acting at Mount Allison. Her thesis was on The Aging Voice and The Benefits of Theatre, so she is very excited to share her findings through this workshop which will help to strengthen and add vibrancy to your vocal presence.
