La Cenerentola is the Boulder Opera Company's first production in our Children's Series. The audience will recognize many familiar characters in this comedic love story as it is Rossini's version of the beloved Cinderella tale. Beautiful melodies and catchy tunes will be performed by local, professional opera singers in costumes and a live ensemble orchestra. Narrated by a reporter who will interview each character as the story unfolds, the audience will quickly discover some new twists in this comic version of Cinderella.

Cinderella is still working as a poor maid and being mistreated by her stepsisters but instead of a mean stepmother, there is now the wicked stepfather, Don Magnifico. Cinderella's fairy godmother is replaced by the gentle Alidoro, a philosopher and Prince Charming's tutor. Cinderella goes to the ball, bracelets are exchanged instead of glass slippers, mistaken identities make for hilarious escapades, and the quick-paced action will make this hour-long show fly by in a second!
