Lisa Geduldig and El Rio Present... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Comedy Returns to El Rio! is a popular monthly comedy show (every 3rd Thursday of the month) that recently won Best Comedy Night by The Bay Area Reporter. The show, co-produced by Kung Pao Kosher Comedy's Lisa Geduldig and El Rio, is now in its 11th year, having celebrated its 10th Anniversary Show in May. It takes place at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District and showcases an eclectic, mix of intelligent, progressive comedians from the Bay Area and beyond. Geduldig created the event in 2008 order to bring back to life a comedy show that used to take place in the 1980s and 1990s at El Rio.
The 9th Annual Obligatory June Gay Comedy Show! takes place on Thursday, June 21st and features Sampson McCormick, Natasha Muse, Nick Leonard, and Lisa Geduldig.
Sampson McCormick is an experience, a down to earth comedic force of nature, and one of the most celebrated LGBT comics working. He's been named 'One of the Funniest LGBT comics' by Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, The Advocate, and OUT Magazine and appeared on MTV, VH1, BET and is currently featured in the upcoming Netflix documentary "A Tough Act To Follow" and in this season of VICELAND's popular show "PayDay. His comedy offers riveting and refreshing takes on politics, race, religion and sexuality you know, all those things you aren't suppose to talk about in polite company. www.sampsoncomedy.com
Natasha Muse is like the C3P0 of San Francisco comedy: a bunch of small bears once mistook her for a golden god but in reality shes a bumbling robot (as well as a mom, a transsexual, and a firm agnostic). The SF Weekly once declared her a Comedian to Watch in 2014, and in 2016 they upgraded her to an Artist to Watch. Natasha features at the SF Punchline and Cobbs Comedy Club, and has worked with such comedy luminaries as Maria Bamford, Roseanne Barr, Janeane Garofalo, Wyatt Cenac, and God. Natashas comedy is so good, its not even funny. www.natashamuse.com
Nick Leonard performs his dry and sly humor at clubs around California and all over the world including Marsh Theater, NYU, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The San Francisco Fringe Festival, and the Vancouver International Comedy Festival. He is the co-founder of the QComedy Showcase (currently on hiatus) and the popular Bilarious Show in the National Queer Arts Festival. Nick also performs regularly as his alter ego, Ginorma Desmond.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer whos the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ (which celebrated its 25th Anniversary last December), Comedy Returns to El Rio, and the new monthly comedy show, Comedy at Ashkenaz! on the second Thursday of the month at Ashkenaz in Berkeley. Lisa moonlights as a bilingual (Spanish-English) publicist.
