((( RYAN CROSSON - VISIONQUEST ))) https://www.beatport.com/label/visionquest/19003
A Motor City-Berlin-London hybrid, Ryan Crosson is a complex artistic creature. Equal parts energetic, down to earth and ultra-refined musical aesthetic, Ryan has one ear to the club and one ear far, far beyond. Known the world over for shape shifting, body shaking tracks on groundbreaking labels including Wagon Repair, M_nus, Spectral Sound, and his own Visionquest. Ryans production and sampling practices depart from the worlds of house or techno by referencing musique concrète, Downtown New York funk, and East African jazz. As a co-founder of the Visionquest label, Ryan Crosson has been a guiding force in the underground community showcasing a wide range of eclectic techno and leftfield electronica with strong dancefloor appeal. In the past few years alone hes played a crucial role in launching two sub-labels via Visionquest, Brachtune and of course the vinyl only imprint Visionquest Special Editions, which delivers material leaning towards the dubby, after-hours realm of dance music which fans of Crosson have come to expect from his DJ sets.
Aside from his Visionquest duties, Crossons own material has landed on a number of quality imprints throughout his career, like alphahouse, My Favorite Robot, Mdrnty and the recently launched imprint Monologue Music. His most recent offering finds Crosson back at home on Visionquest with a three track collaboration with Merveille titled the Dream State EP. The project showcases the sound profile hes become known for in recent years, which will be on full display during his rooftop set at Monkey Loft's gorgeous open-air patio.
((( GET PHYSICAL with m.O.N.R.O.E. ))) https://www.beatport.com/label/get-physical-music/586
The mighty German label Get Physical marches on with another carefully curated compilation, this time featuring 12 exclusive tracks curated by m.O.N.R.O.E.
m.O.N.R.O.E. is Jordan Postrel, a Miami based DJ who has released on labels like Kindisch, Desert Hearts, Viva Music and Saved Records and has previously put together a number of compilations for Get Physical. He has a fresh take on tech house that has seen him become a well-established DJ back home, and the perfect person to represent his homelands underground sound. Featuring a mix of artists old and new, this is a great window into the ever more essential American underground that proves fresh new talent is always coming up and Get Physical know about them before anyone else. The mix kicks off with the driving Dance Spirit track Music Is Life with its fluttery flutes, before m.O.N.R.O.E himself offers the loose and dreamy deep house of Refresh. Adisyn then gets cosmic with a swirling deep house number that is coloured with lovely neon pads, and Daniel Dubb hypnotises with his dubbed out roller Blast. Long time scene stalwart Robert Babicz goes for a more edgy and sharp tech house tune with acid bass and arpeggiated synths that reach to the skies and m.O.N.R.O.E appears again to remix the opening track into something perfectly smooth and zoned out. The likes of Casah, martinek and Enio Skoto then keep things richly atmospheric and deep with cavernous cuts that work on the mind as much as the heel and range from house to minimal. Lastly, Michael Gin rounds out what is a heady mix in real style with Y=X, a deep cut with swirling techno pads and icy hi hats. This is an excellent showcase of the contemporary American underground compiled perfectly by m.O.N.R.O.E and Get Physical. The album will also be a supported with a tour of America, including a number of key cities south of the border and will feature key artist line ups playing alongside m.O.N.R.O.E.

UNITING SOULS has contributed to setting standards as to what the Seattle electronic music community has to offer on a local & international level. It is because of organizations like Uniting Souls that Seattle is a favorite stop among touring electronic musicians. With e-mail, smart phones, cheap flights, declining costs in music production, and the explosion of information technology, the face of the global music community is rapidly changing, but it is collectives like Uniting Souls that are evolving right alongside to help define and retain humanness in the often impersonal world weve created. - The Stranger (Seattles Largest Weekly)
