An Evening with Angela Davis
Longtime freedom-fighter, professor and author Angela Davis will speak in commemoration of Palestinian Prisoners Day on Wednesday, April 17, at 7pm at the First Congregational Church of Berkeley, 2345 Channing Way (at Dana), in a benefit for the Middle East Children's Alliance.
Angela Davis is a prison rights/racial justice activist who cofounded Critical Resistance, taught the History of Consciousness at UC Santa Cruz, directed Feminist Studies, ran for Vice President of the United States twice, and has written many excellent books -- including Women, Race, and Class, & Abolition Democracy: Beyond Prisons, Torture, and Empire.
In 2011 she traveled on a women of color delegation to Palestine and last year she participated in the Russell Tribunal on Palestine in New York City.
