Picasso at the Lapin Agile
Arena Theater and The Broken Anchor Collective will present the comedy Picasso at the Lapin Agile by Steve Martin (yes, THAT Steve Martin) The setting is the Lapin Agile cabaret in the Montmartre district of Paris in October of 1904.
The play depicts an imagined meeting between Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein. Both men are on the verge of an amazing idea (Einstein will publish his Special Theory of Relativity in 1905 and Picasso will paint Les Demoiselles d'Avignon in 1907) when they find themselves at the Lapin Agile. Picasso at the Lapin Agile will be directed by Aleph Ayin, an experienced actor/director who studied at both Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts and University of North Carolina School of the Arts, one year ahead of local thespian Bryn Harris. The cast includes Lloyd Cross, Wayne & Bryn Elizan Harris, Blake More, Jon Carlo, Katy Frost and Jeremiah Mayer, as well as Ayin playing the role of Picasso. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime and the Arena Theater bar and snack stand will be open.
