The 10th Annual Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam Semi - Finals
The Tenth Annual Youth Speaks Teen Poetry Slam represents the increasing popularity of Youth Speaks programs. Over the course of six weeks, more than 600 young poets from Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco (and beyond) will compete in a series of open preliminaries and semi-final slams. This year, Youth Speaks also offers two slams only for SFUSD and OUSD public high school students. After a month of poetry performance, 17 finalists will make it to the Grand Slam Finals at San Francisco's Opera House on Saturday, March 18 (hosted by Marc Bamuthi Joseph). The five winners of the Grand Slam will travel to New York City for the Brave New Voices, the National Youth Poetry Slam Festival in April, this will be a Youth Speaks production in partnership with Urban Word NYC (formerly known as Youth Speaks NY).
