The Dream Show: Music, Soul & Love
Accomplished "soultry" solo performer, Persona Bell shares her stage with the unforgettable high-energy of Minneapolis' Ray Covington Band.
These two musical powerhouse performances have joined forces in a benefit concert supporting Minneapolis' stand against Domestic Violence.
PERSONA BELL
Persona is a classically-trained pianist. However, her vocal range has been compared to super-performers like Alicia Keyes and Beyonce', and has been influenced by legends Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. She uniquely marries her piano talent with her full-soul singing and songwriting. Her audiences cannot hear enough of her sound, and feel her heart-felt, raw emotion in her music!
Persona enjoys a history of large-venue credits (most recently, her solo show at Charlotte's Blumenthal Performing Arts Center main stage). Persona was also honored to spend a six-month residency as the marquis performer at the lavishly-opulent Langham Hotel in Shenzhen, China. In 2016 she returned again to Minneapolis, her first home and the birthplace of her decade-long career.
This show will include special tributes, big surprises, and several original works of music, including her new anthem hit, "Don't Be Afraid".
RAY COVINGTON BAND
Multi-album sensation, Ray Covington is becoming a household name in the hit-producing Twin Cities of Minnesota. Considered by many to be a Twin Cities music legend, Ray Covington continues to "wow" audiences everywhere, with his "one-of-a-kind" vocal styling, performance and personality!!
Showcasing his talents as a singer and songwriter, his debut solo CD was titled simply, RayCovington. It was released in the summer of 2001 and created a buzz that would quickly spread throughout the Twin Cities music scene. The album was almost entirely written and arranged by Ray, with Al Demmings of Semaj Records producing the album. It contained the local radio hit Im Ready. The band just released its new album, "Monarch Butterfly",
Ray's credits include headlining the unforgettable recent concert at The Cotton Club in Minneapolis. The all-star band included former New Power Generation drummer Kirk Johnson, Monte Moir and Chance Howard of The Time, and Todd Burrell of Alexander ONeal fame.
MIKE D'COLE
Entertainer-performer-singer-songwriter (yes, all 4) Mike D'Cole is a long-standing Minneapolis phenomenon. Originally hailing from Chicago, Mike takes his musical roots from Motown's artists like Temptations and Smokey Robinson, where music was rooted in full instrumentation and the smoothest vocal harmonies.
Mike likes songs that tell a great story, and he wants to tell that story in his own way. You will hear all about inner-strength, compassion, and love in his "gumbo" of sound.
His music makes a connection. Listen to Mike D'Cole. You're in for something very special!
CO-SPONSORS TO BENEFIT
