Award-winning violinist and ECM Records artist Michelle Makarski has lived in the Hudson Valley for several years now and has kept a very low profile. Internationally acclaimed for her compelling programming, poetic style and outstanding versatility, shes been quietly giving private lessons in the Alexander Technique at the Anahata studio in uptown Kingston - but she hasnt performed publicly in the region since making her home here. However, thanks to the prompting and generosity of one of her Alexander clients, that situation is about to change.
On Sunday, July 15, 4:00 pm Michelle will perform an hour-long solo program at Lifebridge Sanctuary as a fund raiser for the Rosendale Theatre to be followed by an hors doeuvres and wine reception. The concert is entitled The Solitary Voice, and includes works by Giuseppe Tartini, Max Reger and J.S. Bach, chosen specifically for the intimate ambience of the beautiful Sanctuary space. All proceeds will benefit the Rosendale Theatre Collective in support of the much-beloved Rosendale Theatre and its diverse activities.
Michelle Makarskis latest recording on ECM is Six Sonatas for Violin and Piano by J.S. Bach, in duo with pianist Keith Jarrett.
