Opera Under the Stars
On August 1st, Opera Kelowna is delighted to team with Presenting Sponsor UBC Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies for the annual much-loved Opera Under the Stars! Last year hundreds of people attended this sold-out world-class sunset performance in the central courtyard at UBC's Okanagan campus.
This free open-air public concert presents a number of the professional cast of this season's Main Stage production of George Bizet's Carmen - one of the world's most beloved operas - in an informal and picturesque setting. Bring a picnic, blankets or chairs and enjoy arias and ensembles from a wide rage of familiar and beautiful operatic repertoire.
Gates open at 7:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 8:30 p.m. Opera Under the Stars is free to attend and parking for the evening is complimentary - but online pre-registration is required. (Limit of 4 tickets at one time - all names to be captured). Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. All ages are welcome and encouraged to mingle, move about and even dance to familiar operatic favourites.

This event is part of Opera Kelowna's 2018 Summer Concert Series, which also includes the following free concerts with performances by the students of Opera Kelowna's Summer Intensive Training Program:

- August 8th - 6:00 p.m. Kelowna's Waterfront Park
- August 12th - 6:00 p.m. Peachland's Heritage Park

Opera Kelowna is one of British Columbia's three professional opera companies. Mainstage performances of Carmen will be at the Kelowna Community Theatre on August 16, 17 and 18th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $75.00 - $125.00.
