Paquito and Sandro Lorier, father and son, hail from Alsace France. They are both virtuoso guitarists steeped in the tradition of Jazz Manouche as well as Gypsy Rumba and Flamenco. They come from a family of Manouche origin, which is where Jazz Manouche or gipsy jazz as its known in the states, got its name. Paquito has had an illustrious career playing both jazz manouche and gipsy rumba. He says that one of his most inspirational moments was playing for Pope Jean Paul II. His song, entitled Paquito, which he originally crafted for the film Laisse vos Hains Sur Mes Hips has been recorded worldwide by many great artists. Paquito has performed with Joe Privat, Babik Reinhardt (the son of Django Reinhardt). Luis Salinas as well as just about every famous jazz manouche musician.
His son, Sandro is has grown to be quite a force of his own. After winning first place in the Paris Young Talent contest for his playing in 2013, he has gone on to dominate festivals throughout Europe, often performing with his father. In 2015 he released his first album entitled Gypsy Favela and headlined the LOlympia in Paris with his father in 2016. Sandro is unique in that he doesnt use a pick even when he is playing jazz manouche as most people do. He has transferred his flamenco finger technique to all his playing and it is quite impressive to watch. ______________________________________ ______________________________________

your hosts, Madison's favorite americana infused gypsy jazz band - mandolin driven with an amazing vocalist (Maggie) and Jeffo on bass like nobody's business! __________________________________________ __________________________________________ Robin Nolan Trio One of the worlds most respected exponents of Gypsy Jazz guitar since Django Reinhardt, Englishman Robin Nolans story began in an evacuation hospital in Vietnam in 1968. The son of musical entertainers, Nolans nomadic lifestyle has taken him on a romantic and passionate musical journey thats rarely travelled in these fast-moving, fame-obsessed times. You might even call it a modern-day fairy tale.
Spending his formative years in Hong Kong, Nolans Liverpudlian father started to teach him to play the guitar at the age of six, unselfishly hoping his sons talent would go on to shine even brighter than his own.
Nolan was encouraged and taught to play the standards of Hank Williams and the subtleties of traditional jazz. However, like many journeymen before him, Nolans musical path led him down many roads before securing a place at the Guildhall School of Music in London where he established himself on the capitals local jazz scene with his own swing quartet. But it was a trip to the annual Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois-Sur-Seine, France with his father and musical mentor in 1991 that changed Nolans whole perspective towards music forever.he explains. Unfortunately for Nolan, the gypsy lifestyle is not something that the London of the early 90s was ready to embrace. After struggling to find spots to play his music on the street without being moved by the police or going through the endless bureaucracy and red tape to secure a busking pitch, Nolan decided to pack his bags and take his band to a more liberal city by setting his sights on Amsterdam. Fully embracing the gypsy way, Nolans freedom to play wherever and whenever he liked in the streets of Amsterdam led to a whole new artistic independence. Using the world as his stage, Nolans time in Amsterdam led to many encounters with people from all over the world and a chance encounter which set in motion a series of harmonious opportunities and lifelong friendships that are still having repercussions to this very day. __________________________________________ __________________________________________
