Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Now in its 4th year, this popular and diverse monthly (every 2nd Monday of the month) comedy show features the best of Bay Area comedians and beyond. The show takes place at El Rio in The Mission District where San Francisco comedian and comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig (Kung Pao Kosher Comedy, Funny Girlz), began her stand up comedy career 23 years ago.
The March 11th show features Karen Ripley, Carla Clayy, Brendan Lynch, Karinda Dobbins, & guest host, Bob McIntyre. Please note: There will not be an April show.
Karen Ripley is a queer comic and improv master and has been featured on LOGO TV. She is a veteran of LGBT comedy and began her comedy career in 1977 (36 years ago!) in the heyday of the LGBT comedy movement in San Francisco. She has performed at 100's of Pride events as well as The Fringe & Diva Festivals.
Carla Clayy is a native San Franciscan who has spent the last several years making people laugh all over the country. She won the Marshall's Women in Comedy Competition in 2001 and was awarded a guest spot at its Marin County show, sharing the stage with Paula Poundstone, Joy Behar, and Rene Hicks. Carla is a regular at The Punchline, Cobb's, and comedy clubs in such hotspots as Modesto and Chico and has shared the stage with Robin Williams.
Brendan Lynch has established himself as a comedian to look out for in the Bay Area. He has performed at SF SketchFest, has had college crowds clamoring for extensions, and has appeared all over California. Don't by deceived by Brendan's low-key manner. Prepare yourself for an outrageous slice outside the cookie cutter of life. Brendan's astute observational comedy will surprise you with its bold sarcasm and absurd twists.
Karinda Dobbins hails from from the Motor City (Detroit) and now lives in the Bay Area. Her humor is sharp, distinctive and infused with hilarious social commentary. She has appeared at dozens of venues throughout the Bay Area including The Purple Onion, Harvey's, The Marsh, and The Comedy Spot. Karinda is a breakthrough talent with an unconventional perspective and colorful wit that engages and pulls you in to her aggressively laid-back comedy style. She is fluent in three languages: English, Lesbian Lingo and Corporate-Speak.
Bob McIntyre (guest host) was born a coal miner's daughter in a cabin on a hill in Butcher Hollow. At the age of 13, he got his first job as a waiter at the local BINGO hall where he learned the skills that would carry him through an additional 30 years of various restaurant jobs in a variety of establishments that would never be referred to as "fine dining." Along the way he performed some comedy here and there but not in a lot of other places. His cat weighs 19 pounds, 1/5 of Bob's own weight.
Must be over 21 as it's a bar. Tickets on sale on a sliding scale basis: $7 to $20.
