Body Awareness by Annie Baker, directed by Wendy Overly
"An engaging new comedy by a young playwright with a probing, understated voiceOne of the most promising new stage talents to emerge in the past decade." -The New York Times
"A smart, modest work about ordinary, flawed people, grasping for connection, but none of it feels small, thanks to Baker's sharp ear for the deeply painful and funny longings squirming under her characters' dialogue." -Time Out New York
Hailed by Time Out New York as "A marvelously deft and humane comedy," Body Awareness offers a glimpse into the quirky domestic life of a contemporary yet unpredictable family during one transformative week. Helmed by Overly (longtime supporter of The Wilbury Group and resident artist at the Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre), the artistic and production team of Body Awareness exemplifies a blend of some of the region's most established talent and promising up and comers, featuring Gamm resident actor Karen Carpenter in her first performance with The Wilbury Group, Clare Blackmer (recently seen as The Narrator in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Kerry Callery (Destefano on the Air! at The Wilbury Group, Festen at Gamm Theatre), and newcomer Sam Appleman in his Wilbury Group debut.
