Angry Housewives
"Angry Housewives" is the longest-running musical in Seattle theater history. Premiering in 1983, the punk-rock musical, created by Seattleites Chad Henry and A.M. Collins, went on to play for nearly seven years in Pioneer Square Theatre spaces, burning its songs and cut-loose attitude into Seattle's history.
Bored with their everyday mediocre existence and tired of the men in their lives, our four heroines get angry and form a punk-rock band to win some much needed cash in a local contest. Beginning with the first licks, this satirical twist on 1980s feminism is a fun-filled look at the decade that gave us big hair, bigger shoulder pads, and a sense of feminine power.
Directed by Scott B Randall, "Angry Housewives" features Britta Grass, Jenny Price, Codie Wyatt Clark and Hilary Erlandson as the fabulous foursome who rock the house. The men, who try in vain to keep our heroines in aprons and pearls, are played by Morgan Peeler, Bruce Erickson, Christopher Bartness, and Kell Engi. Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m., for the three-weekend run June 1-June 17.
