Love Makes a Home: The Life of Rebecca Boone
This historical play puts Rebecca Boone center stage, out of the shadows of her larger than life husband, Daniel Boone. Rebecca gave birth to ten children and raised others as well. She moved more than 20 times. Through it all, she kept her faith and she kept loving her husband. Women adventurers get written out of history too often, and this play gives a voice to Rebecca, one of the most fascinating women of her time.
written by KIESA KAY starring PATTI LOUISE SMITH Patti Louise Smith lived most of her life in the shadow of the Appalachian mountains of eastern Pennsylvania including a short stint near Daniel Boones Oley Valley birth place. Although she was active in theater during high school, it was more than 40 years before she returned to the stage, doing so after moving to North Carolina in 2009. Her roles range from the comedic Alice in The Honeymooners and Veta Louise in Harvey, to the dramatic/historical Mary Todd Lincoln in Good Night, Mr. Lincoln and Rebecca Boone in Love Makes A Home. When not acting, she can be found with her devoted collie. In a prior life, long ago and far away, she worked as an attorney, professor and industrial arts shop teacher. featuring the old time fiddling of WILLIAM RITTER William is a native of Bakersville, NC, and an alum of Western Carolina University.
