PROJECT TO THE FUTURE
Premik Russell Tubbs presents A Multi-Dimensional Music Event & Fundraiser for the Cinema Arts Centre to aid in the tremendous costs involved in transitioning from film to digital projection. All performers are volunteering in order to help CAC meet these new industry requirements.
Featuring Drumming, Dance, Light Show, East-West, World Music, Children's music, Electronic Dance , Acoustic, Folk, Rock, Pop, Opera, and Humor!
A Wine and Cheese reception will follow the music
Performers: Premik Russell Tubbs - Show host and multi-instrumentalist (saxophones, flutes and wind synth) Premik has worked with everyone from Carlos Santana, Whitney Houston, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Ravi Shankar, Narada Michael Walden, Clarence Clemons, Ornette Coleman, Jackson Browne, Jean-Luc Ponty, Lonnie Liston-Smith, Scarlet Riveria, James Taylor, Sting and Lady Gaga just to name a few. Buddha On Mars (BOM) music and light show Project producer Edgar Paterson Mills and Premik Russell Tubbs combined both skill and diverse talents to create this multimedia, multi-instrumental performance. Edgar worked for 2 year collaborating with dancers and yoga teachers for the images of this project. The modern dance troupe Circle of Dance (Huntington, NY) in conjunction with other dancers and yoga teachers, are choreographed images projected as synchronized complement to the instrumental compositions of Premik and Edgar.With the light show as a backdrop, a live dancer (Barbara Feldman-Stein) will take the stage this evening with BOM. Edgar Mills bass - Edgar Paterson Mills producer/engineer/musician will be on six string bass this evening. His multimedia works have appeared on PBS and as well he has performed with dance companies at the Merce Cunningham Theater. Steve Finkelstein drums A talented percussionist, Steve Finkelstein has over twenty-five Years Pro NY Experience and over twenty-five album credits. He has recorded &/or performed and/or toured with: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Selena, Mary Wilson & the Supremea and many, many more. Barbara Feldman-Stein dance Barbara is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz, a degrees in Kinesiology, Kinesics and Kinesthetics. That translates into the anatomy, physiology, and esthetic aspects of movement. She has a Masters degree in nursing and currently works as a nurse practitioner. She is certified as a master practitioner of neurolinguistic programming, and just completed her 200 hour yoga teacher certification. Though not a graduate of Julliard she did attend. Let's just say she just keeps on moving! Premik Russell Tubbs saxophone, wind synth Alice Weiser and Connie Gillies of Constant Wonder - Children's song. Jonathan Bodian - guitar (age 15) - Jonathan began playing guitar at age 8, studying for five years with renowned composer-guitarist Jorge Morel. He is currently a student of Tali Roth, with whom he studies at the Juilliard pre-college program. Jonathan has performed extensively at many New York area venues.
Mikah Feldman-Stein (1)electronic dance (2) saxophone (age 19) - Mikah Feldman-Stein is a live and electronic musician from the LI/NYC area. He began studying in the jazz idiom. He had early success here, having been selected for participation in a number of elite scholastic jazz ensembles in high school, included NYSSMA all-state and MENC national jazz ensemble. More recently, he has started working in the electronic environment due to finding inspiration in computer music, and the energy of the scene surrounding it. mikahfsmusic.bandcamp.com/
Ron Feldman-Stein Piano - For several years Ron has been the keyboard behind Mikah Feldman-Stein's sax work. Ron brings both a rhythmic and lyrical approach to his playing, with strong jazz, rock and blues influences. Ron received a BA in Music and Performing Arts at the College of Old Westbury in 1982, having studied with the late avant-garde jazzman Makanda Ken McIntyre, Richard Harper, and the late Jaki Byard.
Ariel Wertheim - Opera/vocals (age 20) - Ariel Wertheim is a tenor who has been singing since 6th grade. He is currently a sophomore at DartmouthCollege in New Hampshire, where he sings with the Dartmouth Glee Club and co-directs the Dartmouth Hillel Choir. He studies voice with Louis Burkot in Hanover. He previously studied in Huntington with Ken Friese from 2007-2010. With Piano accompaniment by Ron Feldman-Stein
Akiva A master drummer who is reintroducing drumming back into the Jewish prayer setting, Akiva is the first ordained 'Holy Drummer' since the temple was destroyed thousands of years ago. Akiva plays at synagogues, retreats, drum circles, and concerts around the world. He travels the world as a single artist or with his band 'The Holy Drummers Guild.' Akiva has been refining his invention the 'Electrified Tambourine' and it will be played the evening of March 15th. www.akivathebeliever.com/
Zoe Bluestein classical and original compositions/ piano, vocals (age 13) - A 13 years old Long Island native, Zoe Bluestein started playing piano and singing at an early age. She is currently studying piano with Evelyn Ulex, the internationally renowned pianist. Early on Zoe has been composing her own songs and developed a unique and original style delivered with a soulful vocal performance.
Danny Bluestein - guitar (1) accompaniment with Zoe (2.) original composition - A professor of biomedical engineering at Stony Brook University, Danny Bluestein is also an amateur musician. In the past he played guitar professionally for several years, produced a record, and was a music critic and a journalist in his native Israel. In recent years he has performed with the BEDRock band, whose members are academic colleagues who play in scientific conferences around the world.
Walter Sargent - vocals, guitar - Walt Sargent is a singer songwriter with wide range of musical influences: reggae, jazz, classical and pop. His songs are distinct, varied, sounding a bit like Michael Sexton or John Gorka. Walt has published 2 CDs, took 3rd place in Dallas national songwriting competition (2007) and co-wrote the school song for DowlingCollege. www.waltsargent.com/
Keni Fine as Swami Pajamananda - Swami Pajamananda welcomes One in All to his Light-Hearted Path of Yoga & DeLight. Eran Polat - guitar - Eran Polat is a guitarist, songwriter and composer from Turkey who has been living in the United States since 2004. When he came to the United States he began studying the guitar and has since focused on the classical and flamenco styles. He has studied under Carlos Castilla and Bill Zito. Eran is also the winner of the NassauCommunity College talent contest (2012) and the Beverly Bonner Talent Contest (2013).
Lois Morton keyboard, singer/songwriter - Lois Morton has been delighting audiences in the Long Island and New York metropolitan area for several years with her humorous songs of social commentary which encourages us to laugh at ourselves. Her subjects range from clutter, diet, technology and road rage just to name a few. Reinventing herself in retirement, Lois has gone from being an educator (Ed.D.)/ therapist to a singer/songwriter with a rapier wit and an unexpectedly contemporary approach. A graduate of the Music for Healing and Transition Program, Lois is, as well, a certified Music Practitioner. Hank Stone guitar, harmonica and vocals - Hank Stone has been writing songs for over forty years, but only started to play them out for audiences in 2001. Since then he has headlined most of the folk-oriented venues on Long Island, either solo or with his band Rough Folk.
