Inch' Allah
Barbeau-Lavalette first visited Palestine in the course of making a documentary there 12 years ago. It was a powerful experience, rife with the complications and contradictions any western woman would likely feel, and it was these mixed emotions that convinced her to make a film. Evelyne Brochu plays Chloe, an obstetrician working in a poorly resourced clinic in a West Bank refugee camp, but living on the other side of the Wall, in Israel. She enjoys her evenings drinking with Ava, a young Israeli soldier who lives next door. But she's also increasingly protective of Rand, a pregnant Arab woman she treats at the clinic, and Rand's immediately family. In fact the more she sees, the harder it becomes to maintain her neutrality. Authentic, passionate, Inch'Allah puts a human face on the front-line of the conflict.
