Farm to Ballet at Moonrise Farm
Event Date: Sunday August 12th, 2018 Doors Open: 5:00pm Show Start: 6:00pm
Farm to Ballet returns to Moonrise Farm, home of Sweet Pea & Friends for its season finale! Enjoy an enchanted evening that starts with farm tours and walk through the new Butterfly garden and pollinator habitat. Spread out a blanket for a picnic dinner under twinkle lights while enjoying this beautiful ballet. Moonrise Farm is a Storybook & Fiber Farm. Here, our guests will enjoy a balmy summer evening of ballet under a cool canopy of trees by the pond, sheep next to the barns and amongst the fireflies. Farm tours will introduce visitors to the real-life storybook characters of children's book series Sweet Pea & Friends by the farmer/author/illustrators John and Jennifer Churchman. Bring your own picnic dinner or enjoy a wood-fired pizza, ice cream, cookies, fresh maple or raspberry lemonade, Moonrise Farm Ice Tea and other seasonal treats for purchase in the event barn. A mid-summer evening of music, ballet, food and friends not to be missed. Visit the henhouse, moonrise alpacas, sheepdogs and see the process of transforming wool into yarn in a special hands-on exhibit. Walk in the new public Butterfly & Pollinator Education Garden where over 750 Monarch Butterflies will be hand raised and released for southern migration.
Seating: Audience members should bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs. There will be flat seating options and seating on a hill for optimal viewing of the stage area.
Rain Plan: In the event of inclement weather, the show will be cancelled. We will do everything we can to perform outdoors if possible. In the event of cancellation, ticket holders may continue to donate their ticket to the cause, get a refund or exchange for another show.
Food: Bring your own picnic dinner or enjoy Wood-Fired Pizza and refreshments by Moonrise Farm and Hand Crafted Ice Cream from Fisher Brothers Berry Farm. Cash, checks or credit cards accepted.
Proceeds will benefit the Moonrise Farm Education Fund 501(c)(3). This fund supports community and school farm tours, educational activities and events that focus on sustainable agriculture through traditional and innovative products, projects and practices. This year your support will help fund the second phase of the Community pollinator habitat education garden and honeybee pasture expansion.
NEW THIS YEAR: the entire ballet production will be performed live by a string sextet!
Please buy tickets in advance of the event. Tickets go OFF sale 12 hours before the event begins. Tickets sold the day of the event at the door will cost: $25 general admission and $10 for children 12 & under.
