We'd like to invite you to celebrate Mayur's 25th anniversary by attending the premiere of our original production Perspectives: Parampara + Raavan.
Mayur's 25 year celebratory performance is in 2 parts.
At 11:30 we start with our academy performance of Parampara or tradition. Here, we'll pay homage to the major influences on our dance tradition, including Calcutta's Children's Little Theatre, Bengali poetry, the Odissi tradition of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, and my own experiences as a teacher and choreographer.
This will be followed by complimentary refreshments.
At 2:00pm we will present a new production - Raavan, complete with an original score by Shubhashish Mukherjee - exploring lesser-known stories of Raavan, the demon king most often represented as the villain of the epic Ramayan.
Together, the two parts of the program cast familiar tales and traditions in a new light. I hope you'll join us for this unique event.
