MY TOURETTE'S
MY TOURETTE'S Directed by: Alessandro Molatore 76 min (US) 2017
Five brave individuals with severe Tourettes Syndrome take part in an experimental case study that transforms their lives and raises profound questions about our perception of the neurological disorder.
What happens when a successful young speaker from St. Louis learns that his Tourette's Syndrome, a debilitating neurological disorder deemed incurable by the medical community, could be transformed? When Marc Elliot first attended a human potential program in New York City, this college speaker of the year had no plans of working on his condition. What he didnt expect was to experience a decrease in his tics, which began to disappear over a series of months before ceasing altogether, approximately 25 million tics and twenty years after they first appeared.Marc was faced with a profound question can Tourettes syndrome actually be overcome? This documentary explores Marcs journey and the cases studies designed to replicate Marcs results. What follows is an extraordinary journey: from an art school in Buffalo, a small town in Wisconsin, a high school classroom in Arizona to a wildlife center in the Adirondacks, we are invited to witness a story of courage and perseverance, following Marc and four young adults as they struggle to face and evolve severe cases of Tourettes.
