RBG film event with co-director Julie Cohen + Reception to follow
IN PERSON:Sunday May 20 matinee 1:30pm with Julie Cohen, co-dir of RBG Following the screening & a short Q&A at Upstate, Amsterdam Restaurant, Rhinebeck, hosts a reception. $20 & $18 members.
At the age of 84, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has developed a breathtaking legal legacy while becoming an unexpected pop culture icon (the notorious RBG) racking up victories for gender equality since the early 1970s and writing brilliant dissenting opinions on important issues.
But without a definitive Ginsburg biography, the unique personal journey of this diminutive, quiet warriors rise to the nations highest court has been largely unknown, even to some of her biggest fans until now. RBG is a revelatory documentary exploring Ginsburg s exceptional life and career from directors Betsy West and Julie Cohen.
Following the film and a short discussion, THE AMSTERDAM is the site of our reception. It's a contemporary farm-to-table restaurant in a beautifully renovated city-meets-country space.
