Woodland Creatures Series by marzipanik (2018 Fury Factory Festival)
The Woodland Creature Series is a three-part story told through text, dance and mask performance. An expansion of 2016s The Siege, a Fury Factory Festival work-in-progress, the full play tears deeper into the questions of how and why we fight for individual expression. The performance weaves a tight dreamscape of choreography and image-rich language laced with absurdity and blunt confession. Its a whiplash ride through world-beating confidence, crushing insecurity and the ridiculousness of the conflicting choruses of desire and fear that drive us all.
marzipanik is a performing arts production company founded by ensemble theatre artist Ryan Hill: a writer, director, designer, performer with over two decades of performing arts creation and leadership. marzipanik creates new work that develops the quality and intimacy of live storytelling in all its forms. One of the most exciting theatrical events in San Francisco Bay Area, the FURY Factory is a national hub for ensemble theater work on the West Coast. Staged every other year by foolsFURY theater company, it features: Mainstage productions of fully crafted works by some of the countrys most innovative, exciting theater makers, Raw Materials Polished sections of new works in development, Workshops in creation techniques led by participating artists and other master teachers, as well as panel discussions and more.
Once every two years, we stage an electrifying gathering of collaborative theater makers from around the country. We are thrilled to announce this years line up!
