The Bees Think Their House Is On Fire
ABOUT THE SHOW Five interconnected short pieces delicately untwist the web of memory, perception, and recorded reality in THE BEES THINK THEIR HOUSE IS ON FIRE, an interdisciplinary performance distorting time and space with an unusual marriage of film and wordless movement.
Using a mashup of physical theater, original video, and found home video footage from the creators' childhoods, BEES unpacks the difference between what we remember and what actually happened - extracts the uncanny from tiny moments - swims in the repetitions that pattern our lives - unravels the images we use to understand the world.
Created by Moving Image Lab, a new collaboration between Brooklyn College's Performance and Interactive Media Arts and members of Broken Box Mime Theater.
Moving Image Lab is a theater development space dedicated to incubating unusual physical and multimedia storytelling. By expanding processes that explore the intersection of visual arts and physical theater, the MIL seeks to inspire, connect, and empower artists to create performance work beyond the confines of traditional forms.
Moving Image Lab is: Marissa Molnar, Kaija Matss, David Jenkins, and Blake Habermann Also featuring: Ben Gorodetsky and Julia Cavagna
