Considering Art: A Conversation with Susan Stamberg and Vincent Valdez
TPR and the McNay Art Museum host a conversation with NPR Special Correspondent Susan Stamberg and artist Vincent Valdez.  Since 1971, when NPR began broadcasting, the Hall of Fame journalist has interviewed thousands, including world leaders, writers and world-renowned artists. For this conversation, Stamberg turns her attention to Vincent Valdez and his painting, The Strangest Fruit(#9).

Months after becoming museum director, the McNays Richard Aste selected the large-scale piece as his first acquisition, a bold choice that has helped re-frame and re-energize the museums position as a relevant, progressive community institution. Aste will start the conversation with Stamberg and Valdez, who will discuss Valdezs evolution as an artist and his recent work that confronts violence, racism and identity in America.

The Leeper Auditorium, 6000 N. New Braunfels Ave.
