About Babelle Theatre
Under the co-Artistic Direction of Marie Farsi and James Gordon King, Babelle Theatre is an emerging theatre company based in East Vancouver. Since its founding in 2015, Babelle has cultivated a devout Millennial following of artists and audiences because it creates the kind of theatre that brings relevance to an art form that many Millennials consider tired and inaccessible. The company aesthetic consciously intersects arts disciplines (visual arts, poetry, music) and stages works in unconventional spaces, while offering shows at prices that are affordable to a younger generation. It produces experimental and avant-garde theatrical performance work that is in artistic conversation with local artists and audiences, and it develops a diverse audience at home and abroad through touring locally, nationally, and internationally.
Their inaugural production RIVULETS: THREE SHORT PLAYS ABOUT A FLOOD garnered seven Jessie Richardson nominations, winning the award for Outstanding Original Script. Their second production, MOVEMENTS 1&2, premiered in June of 2016 to sold-out houses and garnered acclaim and enthusiasm from critics.
