QTC's 2019 SEASON of Two Plays

Michael Hollinger's "Ghost-writer" - April 5 - 30, 2019
Directed by Laura Giannarelli

In this haunting love story novelist Franklin Woolsey dies mid-sentence, but his secretary, Myra, continues to take dictation. Attacked by skeptics--the press and Woolsey's jealous widow--Myra sets out to prove she is more than just an artful forger. Is she trying to steal Woolsey's legacy now that she cannot have his love, or might she truly possess a gift the world can't understand?

"Ghost-writer" will be directed by Laura Giannarelli, a founding member of the highly acclaimed Washington Stage Guild. Previously at QTC, Laura directed "Faith Healer" and "A Lesson from Aloes." It features Carol Spring (Myra), Steve LaRocque (Woolsey), and Stephanie Mumford (Mrs. Woolsey).

Hubert Henry Davies' "The Mollusc" - July 12 - August 4, 2019
Directed by Jack Sbarbori

"You are guaranteed to leave 'The Mollusc' with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart," raved DC Theatre Scene about QTC's "spot-on" 2008 production of Davies' Edwardian comedy of ill manners. A decade later, QTC restages one of its most popular productions about Dulcie Baxter (Marnie Karanek), the "mollusc", who has an unusual yet hilarious affliction. This delightful farce first hit the London stage in 1907.

"The Mollusc" will be directed by QTC Artistic Director Jack Sbarbori, who directed and designed the set for the highly-acclaimed 2008 production of the play at QTC. Marnie Karanek, Craig Houk, Brendan Murray, and Emily Gilson comprise the cast.

Prized by its patrons for its intimate stagings, QTC specializes in productions of naturalistic plays about the truth and beauty in everyday "quotidian" life. This boutique theater caters to those who enjoy thinking about--and discussing with friends after the show--the meaning of a great play. Located within walking distance of Bethesda's renowned restaurant district, there are plenty of fine places to eat and/or drink before or after the play. On Saturdays and Sundays, parking is free in the public lot directly across from the Writer's Center, where QTC is the resident theater company. QTC is easily accessible by car or Metro (red line to Bethesda stop).
