Hollywood Heritage "De Longpre Annex" Open House
On Thursday, May 17th, 2018 from 5:00PM-8:00PM Hollywood Heritage will be hosting an Open House at its new "De Longpre Annex" located at 6411 Hollywood Blvd., Suite "C" in conjunction with National Historic Preservation Month. The space is located on the original site of Paul de Longpre's Studio & Residence.

Hollywood Heritage is pleased to announce that there will be a display of "Hollywood in Miniature", which was the brainchild of Joe Pellkofer, owner of the Hollywood Cabinet Company. To keep his master craftsmen busy during slow periods in the late 1930s, Pellkofer had them re-create detailed street scenes of Hollywood with its landmark theaters, churches, billboards, businesses and neighborhoods. Surrounding the entire city is a painted cyclorama mural of the Hollywood Hills and nearby areas. In addition, there is a miniature of Paramount Studios as it looked circa 1937-38.

There will also be a silent auction, and among the items offered are artwork from the collection of renowned actor Glenn Ford, which were gifted to the museum by his son, Peter Ford. Proceeds from the auction will aid in the organization's preservation efforts.

Sculpture/architectural materials conservator and HH board member Donna Williams has agreed to clean and restore the Hollywood miniatures, so what you will see is a work-in-progress. The miniatures are hand-made, constructed of wood, paper, plastics and plaster with faux finishes depicting wood, brick, ceramic tiles and plaster finishes. The miniatures have been in storage for over two decades and return to Hollywood Boulevard, where they were last on display at the Hollywood Entertainment Museum.

In addition to the miniatures, HH has curated exhibits about the Hollywood Boulevard Commercial and Entertainment District (which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places), Wattles Park, and Hollywood Heritage Museum. A video presentation about the organization will be shown, and board members will be available to discuss current preservation issues facing the community. Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served!
