Puget Sound's Geoducks
Puget Sounds geoducks are iconic, valuable, and fascinating creatures, and their management presents both opportunities and challenges. Their slow growth, long lives, and fixed location means that their management is closer to that of a forest than a fish.
Join us for a lecture with Dr. Henry Carson of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. He will discuss the ecology of these giant burrowing clams, the way they are managed by the state and treaty tribes, and the value the fishery provides to the state.
