Frim Fram 4 'Dancing and Martinis' album release party concert to be held Saturday, March 9
Frim Fram 4 'Dancing and Martinis' album release party concert to be held Saturday, March 9 Celebrated Boise jazz quartet celebrating release of 'I'm a Shy Guy' Live at the Linen presents the Frim Fram 4's "Dancing and Martinis" album release party concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Linen Building, 1402 W. Grove St. in Downtown Boise's Linen District. $10 advance or at the door; advance tickets available at brownpapertickets.com and The Record Exchange (1105 W. Idaho St., Boise). Note: Limited tickets will be available due to the unique production setup for this show. All ages, full bar (I.D. required). Plenty of free, off-street parking is available at the Linen Building. A mainstay of the Boise music scene since 2001, the Frim Fram 4 (frimfram4.com) is celebrating the release of its latest 12-song CD "I'm a Shy Guy" with a special performance suited for an evening of martinis and dancing. The band will be joined by special guest Emily Braden for a portion of the show. While the band's original aim was to recreate the slick, sophisticated arrangements of the Nat King Cole Trio (whose 1945 hit "The Frim Fram Sauce" inspired the band's name), the Frim Fram 4 pays tribute to many other legends of the Jazz Age, from Basie and Ellington to Sinatra, Darin and Bennett to the three Louises (Armstrong, Jordan and Prima). The group uses a period standard small-combo instrumentation of voice, piano, stand-up bass, guitar and drums, and its members are instantly recognizable by their trademark black bow ties and white dinner jackets. Braden, a vocalist, composer and lyricist, will add soulful vocals to the Frim Frim 4 on some of their favorite songs. Emily was voted The "Best of the Best" of New York City's 2012 Jazzmobile Vocal Competition and is a regular on the New York City music scene. Learn more at emilybraden.net.
