DAVID RODWN ------------------------------------------ "F*CK TINDER: A Love Story"
As David's getting ready to go to a sex party three months after he fell in love with Julia on their first date, he asks his other new girlfriend of two weeks whether he should wear his leather pants. Meadow responds, Sure. But listen Ive been to a lot of these kinds of events, and Im not going to tell you dont go, but I cant see any scenario in which this works out well for you in the end. Why are you doing this?
THERESA DONAHOE ------------------------------------------ "White Mexican, Part Dos"
I'm with a bunch of loud teenagers riding in an 18 passenger van with the words, Valley Christian Church painted on the side, heading down highway 5 on the way to Tijuana, Mexico. My youth pastor is at the wheel, a yapping 13 year old girl who is asking too many questions is to my right, and a 14 year old boy just learning how to play the guitar is sitting in front of me. We've only been on the road an hour and God is already testing me. Look, I've got nothing against going to Tijuana. In fact, I've done this road trip before. But under an entirely different set of circumstances.
COLE MCLEAN ------------------------------------------ "(In)Appropriation"
Late one Friday evening, a classmate of mine said that seeing my fro and walking style from behind made me look Black. It wasn't the tone of surprise and wonder that caught my ear, but the fear...the fear of what looked like a Black person walking down the streets of San Diego's Coronado Island.
ARNIE WARSHAW ------------------------------------------ You Mighta Seen Me Going Through Your Blue Bins"
I'm making my way down Bryant Street, beginning to think this fortune teller stuff is just a load of circus peanuts, when I see a box on the sidewalk. A big box. A big empty box. I mean, it's gotta be empty, right? These boxes out here are always empty. Anything good in 'em is already gone. Keep on walking, I tell myself. Keep on walking. But for no good reason, this one's got a fix on me. So I turn around.
